Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and build the electrical engineering team responsible for the design, development, and certification of high-voltage electrical panels and systems controlling the operation of Halo Industries, Inc.'s proprietary, laser-based material processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to determine the required functionality and performance standards for new electrical designs.
  • Create and manage product development plans, assigning circuit and systems design activities and deliverables to individual team members.
  • Lead the design of analog, digital, and mixed-signal devices, boards, and systems, utilizing expertise in hardware and software solutions driving the evolution of manufacturing equipment automation.
  • Develop and implement systems/automation design cycles, including taking the design through required safety and certification processes.
  • Evaluate and analyze industrial automation and motion control options for Halo's manufacturing line, defining control systems functionality and form factor requirements.
  • Organize the team to build, test, debug, and certify prototypes of new control panels and systems, integrating advanced automation and motion control functionality.
  • Define, design, and assess safety systems for complex, laser-based, material processing platforms and integrated manufacturing lines.
  • Drive the safety and quality certification processes associated with the release of material processing systems to volume production manufacturing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or an appropriate alternative field of engineering, with advanced degrees desired.
  • 8-10 years of applicable industrial systems design and product delivery experience, with semiconductor fabrication, test, and/or laser-based capital equipment experience desired.
  • 2-4 years of experience managing a small engineering team.
  • Completion of two design cycles supporting the creation of complex, mixed-signal control systems, with experience with certification of at least one of these systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on expertise in the design of analog, digital, and mixed-signal devices, boards, and systems.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software solutions driving the evolution of manufacturing equipment automation.
  • Understanding of systems/automation design cycles, including taking the design through required safety and certification processes.
  • Previous experience working with Mechanical, Optical, and Laser development engineers is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety codes associated with the design, build, and automation of electro-mechanical and optomechanical systems, with experience supporting laser-based systems highly desired.
  • Outstanding detail-oriented analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically to diagnose issues and optimize complex processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
