About the Job

This position is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Diagnostic Radiologist to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a Diagnostic Radiologist, you will play a critical role in providing expert interpretation of advanced body MRI exams, including prostate, liver, rectal, and female pelvic MRI. You will also be responsible for interpreting low-dose CTs for an established Lung Cancer Screening program, as well as general chest, abdomen, and pelvis CTs.

Responsibilities
  • Provides expert interpretation of advanced body MRI exams, including prostate, liver, rectal, and female pelvic MRI.
  • Interprets low-dose CTs for an established Lung Cancer Screening program, as well as general chest, abdomen, and pelvis CTs.
  • Interprets general ultrasound and plain films.
  • Supports patient care services with communication of exam results appropriate to the level of clinical importance or acuity.
  • Consults with providers on various aspects of imaging, such as exam selection or appropriateness criteria.
  • Prescribes exam protocols and modifies as needed for specific clinical indications.
  • Provides oversight of technical image quality with feedback to technologists.
  • Provides education and supervision of diagnostic radiology residents rotating from the University of California, Irvine.
  • Provides education for members of the medical staff through interdisciplinary conferences/tumor boards (e.g., Pulmonary, Liver/GI, and Genitourinary), committees, or lecture series.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in peer review/peer learning.
  • Completes all mandatory annual training and maintains BLS certification.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
