Job Summary

This position is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Diagnostic Radiologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Diagnostic Radiologist, you will be responsible for interpreting advanced body MRI exams, low-dose CTs, and general chest, abdomen, and pelvis CTs. You will also provide expert interpretation of general ultrasound and plain films, and support patient care services with communication of exam results.

Responsibilities
  • Provides expert interpretation of advanced body MRI exams, including prostate, liver, rectal, and female pelvic MRI.
  • Interprets low-dose CTs for an established Lung Cancer Screening program and general chest, abdomen, and pelvis CTs.
  • Interprets general ultrasound and plain films.
  • Supports patient care services with communication of exam results appropriate to the level of clinical importance or acuity.
  • Consults with providers on various aspects of imaging, such as exam selection or appropriateness criteria.
  • Prescribes exam protocols and modifies as needed for specific clinical indications.
  • Provides oversight of technical image quality with feedback to technologists.
  • Provides education and supervision of diagnostic radiology residents rotating from the University of California, Irvine.
  • Provides education for members of the medical staff through interdisciplinary conferences/tumor boards, committees, or lecture series.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in peer review/peer learning.
  • Completes all mandatory annual training and maintains BLS certification.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
