Position Overview:
As an integral part of our team, the Automation Controls Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility's automation systems. This position is based at our manufacturing site and involves a range of responsibilities focused on maintaining and enhancing our automation infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the plant's automation instruments and control systems.
2. Install, program, and maintain all instrumentation and control systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
3. Perform regular calibrations and maintain comprehensive records of all activities.
4. Collaborate with the engineering team to align automation systems with quality control protocols.
5. Serve as the primary auditor for electrical controls contractor work and manage necessary changes in procedures.
Documentation and Compliance:
1. Generate and maintain detailed documentation related to control systems, including wiring diagrams and logic schematics.
2. Review and modify P&IDs, loop sheets, and electrical schematics as required.
3. Participate in safety and operational reviews, including MOCs and HAZOPs.
Qualifications:
1. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in electrical or control systems is preferred, though practical experience will be considered.
2. Relevant certifications such as CCST or Red Seal are advantageous.
3. Proficiency in Distributive Process Control Systems and knowledge of PLCs and HMI systems is essential.
4. A minimum of 5 years of experience with industrial electrical systems and process instrumentation is required.
Skills:
1. Strong technical problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
2. Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to deadlines.
3. Experience with fieldwork, including wiring and instrument calibration, while adhering to safety protocols.
