Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Instructor I to join our team at Fairmont Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating strategically aligned programs that contribute to the orientation and ongoing competence of staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with advertising and marketing inservice, continuing education credit courses, and other learning opportunities.
  • Balance the need to deliver education programs with the need to work within budget.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other departments and/or external vendors to develop and deliver education programs.
  • Collaborate with managers, physicians, and Nursing Administration to identify and prioritize learning and competency needs.
  • Design education programs that consider adult learning theory and utilize the best learning solution.
  • Develop and/or participate in the development of annual clinical education programs and competencies.
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate the core curriculum for general clinical orientation.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of education programs and maintain course records.
  • Organize, present, and complete documentation for inservice education on new equipment and products.
  • Plan and present education programs for staff in clinical specialty areas.
  • Plan and present education programs for staff in information technology specialty areas.
  • Seek professional development opportunities to update clinical theory and practice knowledge.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing; MSN or MS degree preferred. For LTC: RN Director of Staff Development by the State of CA.

Minimum Experience: Six months to one year as a clinical instructor in a hospital or academic setting. Minimum Experience: Two-five years clinical experience in the area of expertise.

Required Licenses/Certifications: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - issued by AHA - American Heart Association. For LTC: ACLS not required. Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association. Required Licenses/Certifications: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification- AHA American Heart Association (Required for Emergency Department or if overseeing or providing pediatric care on a regular basis). For LTC: PALs not required. Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. For LTC must have California licensure and Director of Staff Development certification (must obtain within six months of employment).
