JOB OVERVIEW

As a Wire Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for the preparation and assembly of wires, cable assemblies, and wire harnesses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Wire Preparation

• Utilize hand tools or automated equipment to cut and strip wire.

• Understand wire gauge, voltage, and color coding.

• Label wires and secure labels using a heat-shrink gun.

• Crimp wire terminations such as pins, ferrules, or lugs.

• Interpret Excel spreadsheets for wire lists, including orientation and termination specifications.

Cable Assembly Fabrication

• Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, schematics, bills of materials, blueprints, and diagrams.

• Possess knowledge of various cable assemblies, from flat ribbon to discrete types.

• Understand crimping, connections, and plugging techniques.

• Familiarity with IPC-A-620 workmanship standards is preferred.

Wire Harness Fabrication

• Read and work from manufacturing drawings and related documents.

• Knowledge of wire harnessing and layout on a harness board.

• Understand wire bundling, breakouts, and spacing.

• Proficient in tie wrapping and lacing techniques.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

• Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, safety rules, and workmanship standards.

• Effective communication skills in English.

REASONING ABILITY

• Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Address problems involving multiple concrete variables.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate verbally.

• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, or balance.
