Job Summary:

Hitachi is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our team in a manufacturing environment. As an Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling or creating sub-assemblies of electronic components and final products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble or create sub-assemblies of electronic components and final products.
  • Understand the importance of working in a team environment but can also work independently with little supervision.
  • Use hand tools to perform a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies.
  • Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget.
  • Determine and/or follow methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing, and fitting on assembly units.
  • Perform any combination of following tasks to assemble electronic components or sub-assemblies.
  • Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
  • Crimps, screws, bolts, solders, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Perform on-line go-not-go testing and inspection, using magnifying devices, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment, to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
  • Perform inspections of electrical assemblies to ensure it matches assembly drawing, schematic and work instructions.
  • Incorporate problem solving and process improvements into workflow.
  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications.
  • Interpret CAD drawings and instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Perform moderate to semi-complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Verify accuracy of test stand and set-up prior to testing and makes necessary adjustments to attain specified test results.
  • Troubleshoots and reworks malfunctions disclosed by test data.
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule.
  • Perform required acceptance testing in accordance with approved Acceptance Test Procedures or other engineering documents with Engineering assistance, if necessary.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years electrical assembly or electrical technician experience or a combination of electrical assembly experience.
  • Prior hands-on experience assembling electrical equipment.
  • Must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Able to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales departments.
  • Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, manage competing priorities for multiple projects and consistently meet all deadlines.
  • Experience with electrical assembly equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
  • Fine soldering and cable assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Fluent in reading electrical schematics and assembly drawing.
