Job Summary

The Compliance & BSA Officer will be responsible for ensuring the credit union's policies and procedures comply with relevant laws and regulations. This includes analyzing new and pending laws, developing and revising policies and procedures, and ensuring all affected areas of the credit union are informed of changes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze new and pending laws, including the BSA, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC, and develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and implement a compliance program to review all areas of the credit union for compliance and make recommendations for change where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a library of compliance resources and assist in revising and designing forms, notices, products, and promotions to ensure compliance with state, federal, and BSA rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate projects involving information disclosure and policy changes, communicate changes to employees, and ensure new procedures are understood and implemented.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports to the Board of Directors on the credit union's compliance record and prepare the annual BSA risk assessment.
  • Perform daily review, monitoring, and analysis of reports, logs, and transaction data to identify and report trends and unusual activity.
  • Responsible for reviewing, approving, investigating, and filing Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
  • Assist compliance examiners or auditors and make information necessary to complete their examinations available.
  • Research and respond to information requested from FinCEN and other government entities.
Requirements

Five to ten years of similar or related experience and a bachelor's degree or formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree are preferred.

Effective communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills are essential, as well as a significant level of emotional intelligence and confidentiality.

Thorough knowledge of banking practices, policies, procedures, operations, products, services, and regulations is required, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Frequently stands or sits in a stationary position.
