The Safety Supervisor is a critical role at United Future, responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment in our meat processing facility. Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Development and Implementation:
• Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead and participate in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Training and Education:
• Develop and conduct safety training programs for new hires and ongoing employee education.
• Ensure all employees are aware of safety policies and procedures and are trained in emergency response protocols.
• Maintain records of safety training and certifications.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Stay current with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations, and ensure the facility remains in compliance with all local, state, and federal safety laws.
• Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
Risk Assessment and Management:
• Perform risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls.
• Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and recommend improvements.
Emergency Response:
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid procedures.
• Coordinate and lead emergency response drills and training sessions.
Safety Culture Promotion:
• Foster a culture of safety through regular communication, engagement, and leadership.
• Serve as a role model for safe behavior and practices.
• Encourage employee participation in safety programs and committees.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents.
• Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Report safety performance metrics to senior management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or minimum of 4+ years of experience in a safety role, preferably within the meat processing, food manufacturing, or heavy industrial industry.
• Ability to obtain Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or similar certifications.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
• Ability to lead and influence others without direct authority.
Working Conditions:
• The role requires working in a meat processing environment, which may involve exposure to cold temperatures, noise, and potentially hazardous equipment.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving materials as needed.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the demands of the facility.
