About the Role

As a CBRE Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design, development, analysis, implementation, and maintenance of mechanical infrastructure systems across our facilities. You will oversee the operations and functionalities of our buildings and coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution.

This role is part of the Facilities Engineering division, which provides support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for campus-wide mechanical infrastructure systems, including core mechanical systems such as chillers, cooling towers, dust collectors, and HVAC systems.
  • Provide mechanical engineering design review input and approval for facility infrastructure and process tool installation projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance work activities, prioritizing and reallocating resources as needed.
  • Lead and participate in equipment and system abnormalities root cause analysis, attending review meetings and providing updates to execute corrective and preventive actions.
  • Take operational ownership of mechanical system design performance, ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide mechanical engineering construction input and commissioning support for facility infrastructure projects.
  • Support as-built documentation of mechanical system layouts and P&IDs.
  • Maintain load/capacity studies for facility infrastructure systems.
  • Provide direction of air and water balancing services.
  • Drive design improvement of infrastructure system performance and uptime.
  • Work directly with contractors and service providers to ensure seamless execution.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis during project design development phase.
  • Capital expense project financial management and EMS/BAS controls experience.
  • Conduct conditional assessments for existing systems to ensure they are serviceable and minimize downtime.
  • Support internal audits as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a mechanical engineering discipline or other appropriate specialty.
  • 10+ years of related experience as a Mechanical Engineer, meeting the CA Engineer-in-Training requirements.
  • Professional Engineer license, preferred.
  • Any 2 of the following certifications are required: EIT, PMP, OSHA, PE license.
  • Understanding of ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, and Life Safety codes.
  • Experience with design, specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of process PLC and commercial HVAC control systems.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with engineering software, including AUTOCAD and REVIT.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Smartsheet.
