Position Summary:

Job Title: Pricing Data Specialist

Department: Grocery

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Overview:

The Pricing Data Specialist is responsible for upholding departmental standards in customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. This role ensures that products are readily available to customers and that all item parameters are accurately maintained within the product management software.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations, and eCommerce

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and flexibility.
  • Promote a welcoming atmosphere by encouraging staff to engage with customers, providing prompt and courteous service.
  • Maintain high standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, and overall profitability.
  • Deliver efficient and friendly customer service, demonstrating care and patience in all interactions.
  • Greet customers warmly and strive to learn their names for personalized service.
  • Assist customers by:
    • Guiding them to desired products
    • Retrieving items that are out of reach
    • Helping with heavy item loading/unloading
    • Documenting and relaying customer suggestions
    • Enhancing the overall shopping experience in various ways.
  • Support store management with gross profit analysis and management reporting.
  • Ensure accurate inventory information for monthly assessments.
  • Utilize product management software to minimize stockouts and maintain correct item parameters and signage.
  • Verify correct pricing and signage for advertised, EDLP, and RDA items, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Maintain accuracy of special buys in product management applications.
  • Conduct inventory and pricing verification in line with company policy.
  • Collaborate with upper management on product placement for new items and resets.
  • Reduce obsolete and discontinued inventory for quick sale.
  • Monitor excess inventory and work with management to minimize it.
  • Report on damaged or unsaleable items and implement solutions.
  • Edit and transmit replenishment and advertising orders.
  • Ensure timely completion of price changes and product information updates.
  • Assist department managers with product management inquiries.
  • Engage with DSD vendors, ensuring accurate invoice processing.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene and dress standards as per company guidelines.
  • Follow company policies and store-specific guidelines.
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance as scheduled.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance in other store areas as required.
  • Perform additional job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Proficient in arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Capable of conducting interviews to gather basic information and guide individuals.
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent experience required. Strong foundational math skills are essential. A minimum of six months to one year of related experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Visual acuity for tasks requiring close and distant vision, depth perception, and color vision.
  • Capability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Environment:

This role is frequently exposed to noise, occasionally to temperature extremes and equipment movement hazards, and consistently to a fast-paced work environment with deadlines.

Equipment Utilized:

Windows-based PC, printer, wireless devices, telephone, fax, copier, calculator, internet, product management software, and Microsoft Office applications.

Financial Accountability:

Responsible for safeguarding company assets, including equipment and merchandise.

Contact Points:

Regular interaction with customers, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.

Confidentiality:

Access to confidential information, including store inventory data, item costs, and profit margins.
