Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with food preparation in accordance with established procedural guidelines and as directed by the Food Services Manager.
  • Prepare various foods depending on the menu created by dieticians for each meal of the day.
  • Operate various kitchen equipment in preparation for the meal, including mixers, meat slicers, food processors, ovens, and steamers.
  • Work at a constant pace to ensure that food is ready for each meal of the day.
  • Understand menu substitutions and record them in accordance with procedural guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and family members, providing a warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.
  • Follow established safety procedures when performing job tasks and/or working with equipment.
  • Comply with the Corporate Compliance Program.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of food service experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care center, or other related medical center preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time throughout an 8-hour day and work in extreme heat and cold.
  • Embracing the standards, values, and beliefs of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members, staff, and fellow department heads.
