Join the City of New York's Department of Small Business Services as we seek a highly skilled Chief Community Engagement Officer to lead our Neighborhood and Community Engagement Team (NACE).

About the Role

The Chief Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of NACE, mentoring managers and other staff, and providing professional development opportunities to team members. This role will also develop a strategy for enhancing existing and developing new partnerships with government agencies, community-based organizations, and non-profit organizations across the City.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of NACE and ensure that annual team goals are met.
  • Develop a strategy for enhancing existing and developing new partnerships with government agencies, community-based organizations, and non-profit organizations.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Mayor's Office and senior SBS leadership to oversee the JobsNYC initiative.
  • Plan and execute a series of monthly hiring halls and other events to connect jobseekers in neighborhoods with high rates of unemployment to employment opportunities and career development services.
  • Support and amplify other community-based mayoral and agency events as requested.
  • Serve as Division lead on matters related to serving new New Yorkers and manage neighborhood and other place-based workforce projects, programs, and/or engagement strategies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and at least 5 years of full-time experience in community or labor organizing, managing community-based economic development programs or projects, or related experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively speak and make presentations in front of large groups.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strategic mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and can-do approach, with excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
