Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer

Position Overview:
In this role, you will collaborate within an engineering team to design hydro-mechanical and pneumatic control systems utilizing physics-based modeling techniques. You will define functional system architectures by identifying major components or significant portions of functional systems.
Key Qualifications:
- Expertise in Siemens NX/Teamcenter environments.
- Mechanical designer capable of managing system and assembly-level requirements.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical design at the system level.
- Experience in:
- Designing and defining requirements for aircraft sub-systems controls, hydro-mechanical control systems, pneumatic systems, and engine control systems.
- Conducting trade studies.
- Understanding system requirements and cascading them through the system architecture, including major components and assemblies.
- Planning and executing system design tests, analyzing results, and utilizing findings to enhance system design performance.
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and design intent notes.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and documentation.
- Capability to perform 1-D hand calculations and complex 3-D simulations to support performance analysis.
- Proficiency in generating solid models of components using 3-D modeling software for packaging and weight estimations.
- Strict adherence to the design process is essential for the successful realization of products for our demanding clientele.
- Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret Clearance or a clearance that has been active within the last five years, or the ability to obtain one.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, thrive under pressure, maintain composure, and manage multiple tasks with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, engaging with colleagues and management at all levels.

- Proficient in DOORs.
- Ability to create technical substantiation.
- Experience in developing components and assemblies with a focus on cost, performance, lifespan, and system requirements.
- Able to work effectively in a collaborative environment, understanding and implementing both oral and written inputs while coordinating with project teams.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly techniques relevant to aerospace applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative teamwork in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Analyze component requirements, conduct specification reviews, and create physical components considering performance, weight, envelope, and cost, often requiring creative solutions to balance competing demands.
- Utilize advanced 3D analysis tools such as Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics to develop critical components.
- Ensure innovative ideas and implementations are captured and protected through applicable intellectual property processes and tools.
- Design major components or significant portions of functional systems or advanced prototypes using computer-aided design and engineering systems.
- Generate data and create layouts, sketches, and notes for components, collaborating with product definition specialists.
- Investigate relevant design factors such as strength-to-weight efficiency.
- Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to address a wide range of challenging engineering problems.
- Evaluate the fit, form, function, and lifespan of components relative to certified configurations.
- Collaborate with the product definition team to produce and verify drawings for accuracy, correct GD&T, and compliance with aerospace industry and customer drafting and manufacturing standards.
- Support and present technical work during product design reviews, coordinating efforts with project, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Ensure proper filing, control, and export classification of created design data.
- Primarily office-based, requiring on-site presence at customer facilities for 40 hours per week.
- Involves extensive telephone, video conferencing, and computer work in alignment with industry regulations and procedures.
- Flexibility to accommodate business deadlines, including occasional early or late hours.
- Typically follows a 40-hour workweek, with core hours from 9 AM to 4 PM.
- Must have the ability to use personal transportation for work at customer locations.
