We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Day Program Counselor to join our team at The Affiliated Sante Group in Silver Spring, MD.

About the Role:

As a Day Program Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their personal goals and increase their independence and social interconnectedness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Counsel individuals to identify and resolve problems and make effective use of resources.
  • Help individuals understand mental illness and its impact on their health and lifestyle.
  • Encourage individuals to take ownership of their goals and develop a sense of self-esteem.
  • Arrange necessary training and therapy to help clients meet their objectives.
  • Strive to place individuals in gainful employment after acquiring marketable skills.
  • Assist individuals in resolving work-related problems or difficulties.
  • Provide hands-on vocational training to advance clients' work skills.
  • Maintain working relationships with staff of other agencies and institutions, and act as a liaison between clients and agency or institution.
  • Prepare and maintain written case records, reports, and forms, perform case follow-up and closing, and perform other administrative tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two (2) years' experience working with Adults diagnosed with varying mental health and intellectual disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to work with individuals who have mental illnesses as well as developmental and physical disabilities.
