Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled English Language Development (ELD) teacher to join our team at Montgomery County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and providing ELD instruction for students who have been identified as eligible for ELD services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and other school staff to develop and implement individualized ELD plans for Emergent Multilingual Learners (EMLs)
  • Serve as a resource for information regarding EMLs, cultural and linguistic differences, English language development, and the ELD instructional program
  • Provide support to students, parents, and staff on ELD-related matters
  • Develop and implement instructional strategies to support EMLs in achieving academic success
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in ELD instruction and share knowledge with colleagues

Requirements:

  • Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors, and other school staff
  • Fluency in another language, in addition to English, preferred

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with a 0.6 FTE schedule. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of educators to support the academic success of EMLs.
