SUMMARY:
Under supervision, responsible for delivering comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling services to students focusing on academic success, career choices, and personal/social growth. Serves as a resource for staff, parents, and the community in these areas.
CERTIFICATION:
Must fulfill Maryland state certification standards for school guidance and counseling.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
In-depth understanding of MCPS Policies and Procedures, Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program, and the Program of Studies. Familiarity with the developmental stages of adolescents. Proficient in reading, note-taking, and interpreting written documents. Capable of collaborating effectively as part of a team and working independently with staff, students, and parents. Competent in using computers and technological tools, including online scheduling systems. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to both large and small audiences. Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
A Master's degree from an accredited institution in school guidance and counseling; prior experience as a teacher and/or counselor is preferred.
