Position Summary
This is a contract role with an initial term of one year.
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for executing a variety of technical tasks in collaboration with the company founder, engineers, scientists, instrument makers, and other members of the SIMTG team. This role supports prototype experiment builds, reverse engineering, and quality assessments in manufacturing. Key tasks include preparing inspection reports, operating advanced measuring equipment, and calibrating tools. Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date Laboratory Notebook is essential.
Key Responsibilities
As a Quality Assurance Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the calibration database for inspection tools and maintaining equipment maintenance records.
- Creating and completing inspection documentation for requested components.
- Conducting inspections using a CMM, 3D Laser Scanner, Faro Arm, Optical Comparators, surface profilometer, and various other inspection instruments.
- Ensuring alignment with customer production schedules and objectives.
- Performing tasks in accordance with SIMTG's quality management system, including record-keeping and management requirements.
- Upholding cleanliness and safety standards in the laboratory environment.
- Machining, assembling, testing, and evaluating precision prototype instruments, devices, parts, models, jigs, fixtures, dies, and assemblies as required. Assisting in the design and modeling of instruments and components to support customer needs.
Qualifications and Skills Required
The Quality Assurance Specialist should possess significant expertise and contribute to the development of innovative concepts and techniques. The following qualifications and skills are essential:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in inspection.
- At least 1 year of experience in CMM programming.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and its application.
- Familiarity with various inspection tools, their calibration needs, and best practices for accurate measurement.
- Experience in manufacturing parts and components using standard machine shop equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of CAD and CAM is advantageous.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2009, AS9100, and drafting quality procedures.
- Experience in generating and managing inspection reports.
- Accountability for individual quality control and timely completion of assigned projects, with the ability to lead additional resources when necessary.
- Ability to work independently on complex assignments and take initiative to resolve issues.
- Capability to determine methods and procedures for new assignments.
- May occasionally serve as an informal team lead.
