Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver tailored instructional programs for each student according to the teacher's responsibilities.
  • Create lesson plans and instructional resources, offering individualized and small group instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Establish and uphold student behavior standards to foster a conducive learning environment that is fair and respectful.
  • Engage in activities that enhance the educational program and strengthen community relations.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with instructional methods and materials.
  • Teach students about citizenship, essential communication skills, and other fundamental elements of the curriculum as mandated by state regulations.
  • Assess students' academic and social progress by maintaining accurate records, preparing progress reports, and communicating with parents.
  • Serve as a role model for students in personal development, character, and integrity.
  • Handle attendance records and maintain inventory as required.
  • Assist in budgeting for instructional and non-instructional resources.
  • Contribute to curriculum development initiatives.
  • May coordinate the work of aides and other support staff when necessary.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and allocate time for professional preparation and collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Be adaptable and willing to teach under various schedules.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with parents and professionals to address health, attitude, and learning challenges.
  • Attend scheduled departmental and faculty meetings.
  • Collaborate with the principal to establish evaluation criteria for teaching performance.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as agreed upon with the administration.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid California teaching credential in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor that serves as a positive example for students.
  • Meet the physical, emotional, and moral qualifications as required by the California Education Code.
  • Embrace the educational philosophy that prioritizes the learning process over the teaching process.
