JOB TITLE:
Special Education Instructor
PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position is responsible for the education of students with disabilities. The instructor will create, execute, and manage individualized education plans tailored for students in Special Education programs.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO
Special Education administrator
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California credential authorizing service in Special Day class.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Assists in identifying and evaluating individuals with special needs.
- Instructs students with special needs.
- Modifies educational programs to support student independence.
- Adapts classroom settings and prepares specialized materials to cater to individual student needs.
- Assesses daily performance of each student and adjusts future instruction accordingly. Evaluates the overall program of each student through tests and observations.
- Engages with parents through various communication methods including meetings, phone calls, and written correspondence.
- As appropriate, develops individual transition plans, supports community-based instruction, and aids students in integrated school environments.
- Participates in IEP meetings to establish suitable instructional programs for individuals with special needs.
- Prepares written reports for other professionals and parents. Maintains necessary up-to-date information related to rosters and reports.
- Performs additional duties as assigned within the scope of Special Education Instructor.

Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California credential authorizing service in Moderate/Severe Special Day class or a California-approved credential program letter confirming eligibility for the Education Specialist Moderate/Severe Intern Credential.
