Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Summer Housing & Conferences oversees and manages all aspects of the Summer Conference Housing Program at Portland State University. This role is responsible for the overall operations of conference housing, including contracts and records management, fiscal processes, and office operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the intern housing program, providing long-term stays to interns in the Portland area.
  • Work with group leaders to determine the needs of groups and determine if and how SHC can accommodate them.
  • Provide excellent customer service and track all communication with groups.
  • Lead the Summer Housing & Conferences Team, which includes the Accounts Coordinator, Operations Coordinator, Interns, and Student Staff.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise Interns to support the summer operational needs.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of professional experience working in higher education, including experience working in university housing and residence life or conference housing.
  • Supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and resolve the full range of problems that may commonly occur in the area of conference housing or student housing administration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in higher education, business, hospitality, or other related industry.
  • Experience using StarRez software.

Total Compensation

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $59,556 and $68,952, but may be negotiated above this range dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.

An excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare, a generous retirement and vacation package, and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse, or dependent at any of the Oregon University System schools.
