Job Overview

Under the limited oversight of the Business Services Directors, the incumbent will coordinate and execute moderately complex and responsible accounting functions; act as a primary resource for assigned areas of responsibility; generate and audit accounts payable for the County Office; process checks; prepare, execute, and audit payroll and various financial transactions; review contracts for bargaining units, pay schedules, and appropriate employee advancements; maintain bank reconciliations; and uphold a variety of fiscal records; along with performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• An Associate of Arts Degree or post-secondary certificate in accounting; or

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience; or

• Three (3) years of equivalent experience in governmental accounting within the educational sector;

• Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License;

• Provide proof of automobile insurability;

• Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including the ability to lift twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally and more than twenty-five (25) pounds with assistance.

Benefits
Employees are provided with an insurance plan, which includes health, vision, and dental coverage for the employee, spouse, and dependents, at a shared cost. Participation in this plan is mandatory for employees working 35 or more hours per week. Employees will be members of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), to which both the employee and the Mendocino County Office of Education contribute. Employees may choose to join the Mendocino County Federation of School Employees Union. The Mendocino County Office of Education does not participate in the Social Security system.
