Campus Safety Coordinator

Under guidance, this role is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of all individuals within the college environment. This includes adherence to established policies and procedures through vigilance, reporting issues, safeguarding the community and its assets, and averting incidents through effective planning and resource management.
IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service and Compliance - 35%
- Implements adherence to regulations as outlined in the Staff Handbook and Public Safety Policy Addendum.
- Responds to service inquiries and addresses requests for assistance in person and via phone.
- Maintains comprehensive reports including incidents, injuries, daily activities, and sign-ins, documenting details such as property damage, unusual events, and equipment malfunctions.
- Verifies identification to ensure access is granted only to authorized individuals and monitors departing personnel to prevent theft.
- Assesses safety conditions and identifies potential threats and risks.
- Handles ID and access card processing and aids in maintaining records of issued cards and current inventory to ensure system functionality and protect against misuse.
- Surveys the premises and regularly patrols buildings and grounds, checking doors, windows, and gates for security and serviceability.
- Reports irregularities such as fire hazards or utility concerns and follows protocols for emergencies, disasters, or criminal activities.
- Documents violations of rules, such as trespassing or excessive noise, and takes appropriate action against individuals engaging in suspicious or unlawful behavior.
- Provides safety escorts for members of the college community within designated areas.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English; capable of interpreting and applying policies to dynamic situations. Must follow written and verbal instructions, complete tasks accurately and punctually, identify and resolve issues promptly, and maintain composure under pressure.
- Training in first aid or CPR, professional security certifications, and proficiency in foreign languages are advantageous. Previous experience in public safety or security roles within an academic or professional setting is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- The hourly wage for Day and Swing shifts is $21, while the Graveyard shift offers a 20% increase from the base rate.
- The college provides a comprehensive benefits package, including a selection of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick, and vacation time, retirement matching, and tuition remission. The college covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for employees and 82% for those with dependents.
- A full-time work week is considered to be 37.5 hours; however, this position requires a 40-hour work week.
