Residential Property Valuation Specialist

About the Role:

Sedgwick County is seeking a highly skilled Residential Property Valuation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Appraiser's Office, you will be responsible for discovering, listing, valuing, and defending appealed property values for residential real property parcels in Sedgwick County.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and maintain accurate data on residential real property characteristics using digital imaging technologies and on-site inspections.
  • Verify property data characteristics with other residential staff members to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct valuation appeal meetings with property owners and/or their representatives to provide fair and equitable treatment.
  • Assign appraised values for residential real property annually and develop a final opinion of market value for each parcel of property.
  • Review market information to establish appraised values using market models and reconcile final value estimates by reviewing various approaches to value.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in new construction, real estate, appraisal, customer service, or administrative support.
  • Ability to successfully complete required International Association of Assessing Officers and Property Valuation division courses within two years of hire date.
  • Valid non-restricted Kansas driver's license and vehicle registered in the State of Kansas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in business, real estate, new construction, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in new construction, real estate, appraisal, customer service, or administrative support.
