Department Overview

PG&E's Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Services (CRESS) is tasked with the governance, planning, acquisition, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of extensive facilities across a vast service area. This includes a diverse range of properties such as service centers, data centers, office buildings, warehouses, and maintenance garages.

Position Summary

This role is represented by IBEW local 1245, an organization with a long-standing history of advocating for PG&E employees.

As a Facilities Mechanic, you will be responsible for conducting maintenance, repairs, and various service tasks essential for the upkeep and minor construction of buildings and grounds.

The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Compensation Information

PG&E provides a competitive hourly rate range that reflects the company's good faith estimate for this position. The actual pay will depend on various factors, including skills, education, experience, and market conditions. The starting hourly rate for this role is between $46.40 and $54.83, subject to collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor and emergency repairs on-site and coordinate transportation of equipment for further repairs as needed.
  • Order systems furniture, determine optimal layouts, and execute installations and adjustments.
  • Operate a service vehicle to designated job sites, run errands for parts, and ensure vehicle maintenance.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to assess repair needs and identify replacement parts.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders regarding safety, parts, repairs, and timelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Willingness to wear provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Safe driving skills in all road conditions.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Capability to lift up to 100 pounds at least once daily.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license or ability to obtain one by the first day of employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Three years of hands-on experience in facilities-related construction, maintenance, or repair.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Demonstrated positive customer service attitude.
  • Ideal candidates should reside within a reasonable distance from the headquarters.
