Position Overview
The Vice President of Philanthropic Initiatives plays a pivotal role in advancing our comprehensive grantmaking strategy. This position collaborates closely with the Executive Team to oversee a dynamic grantmaking portfolio and manage our scholarship initiatives. The Vice President is responsible for ensuring alignment with our mission and values, particularly in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
Scholarship Management
- Oversee the administration of the scholarship program, ensuring compliance with policies and maintaining effective communication with applicants.
- Deliver exceptional service to scholarship candidates, fostering relationships with educational institutions and counselors.
- Maintain a comprehensive procedure manual for the scholarship program, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
- Conduct annual reviews of scholarship offerings and manage the selection process for awardees.
Grantmaking Leadership
- Collaborate with the Executive Team to develop and implement a robust grants program that addresses community needs.
- Establish and maintain a directory of community nonprofits to facilitate informed grantmaking decisions.
- Review grant proposals, conduct site visits, and ensure effective communication with grantees throughout the funding period.
- Lead research initiatives to identify community issues and service gaps, enhancing our understanding of local needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong commitment to the mission of ABFE, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of three years of progressive experience in the nonprofit sector.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and database management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in grantmaking or scholarship administration.
- In-depth knowledge of philanthropic practices and community engagement.
