Position Title: Operations Manager

Role Overview:

We are in search of an Operations Manager to oversee our facility. The primary objective of this role is to cultivate and sustain an organization adept at executing warehouse and delivery operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support structures and processes that foster an operational excellence distribution model that is swift, precise, and reliable.
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard warehouse personnel while ensuring their development through training and delegation of responsibilities.
  • Analyze and initiate strategies to manage expenses effectively.
  • Operate the facility with a strong emphasis on safety and accident prevention, participating in all safety meetings.
  • Implement employee counseling or disciplinary actions as necessary to uphold order, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Design and execute procedures aimed at enhancing plant operations.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and salary reviews with team members, ensuring recognition of high performance.
  • Respond to requests for information from management and corporate functions.
  • Encourage team members to propose innovative solutions to challenges affecting growth and profitability.
  • Oversee the maintenance of plant equipment and support the establishment of a preventive maintenance program.
  • Recommend changes in plant layout and design as needed.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles to suggest enhancements in material handling and processing equipment.
  • Monitor the efficiency of shipping and receiving operations, driving improvements in scheduling and utilization.
  • Promote effective housekeeping practices using methodologies such as 5-S and Visual Factory.
  • Work to minimize risks that could lead to employee injuries or damage to company property, maintaining a robust safety program.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages employee participation in their development and the overall growth of the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across all operational facets, aiming for increased self-directed work.
  • Champion excellent customer service through training and by meeting all commitments to clients.
  • Consistently achieve key performance indicators related to operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a steel service center, metal processing/manufacturing, or warehouse/distribution environment.
  • Strong background in processing and manufacturing.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • A valid Driver's License.

Education:

Preferred qualifications include an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations, Logistics, or Supply Chain. Candidates with equivalent training and experience will also be considered.
