Lockheed Martin Corporation is seeking a skilled individual to take on the role of Flight Test Instrumentation Manager. This position entails overseeing the Integrated Fighter Group's Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) team dedicated to Test & Evaluation.
The FTI team is tasked with the comprehensive design, installation, maintenance, and data processing of flight test instrumentation for advanced aircraft systems.
The ideal candidate will lead a team of engineers specializing in FTI system and detailed design. Responsibilities include:
- Providing technical and managerial oversight on-site.
- Collaborating with Test & Evaluation leadership on workforce planning.
- Coordinating with relevant Program Management Offices to address technical challenges.
- Developing performance metrics and Earned Value metrics.
- Creating specific program metrics to support Enterprise Metrics.
- Establishing a risk and opportunity matrix related to cost, schedule, and budget.
This role requires the ability to facilitate daily operations and ensure effective coordination with other Lockheed Martin locations. Frequent communication with leadership and Program Management teams is essential. The manager will also be responsible for:
- Recruiting, selecting, and training subordinate employees.
- Conducting performance assessments and managing recognition and disciplinary actions.
- Assigning team responsibilities and reviewing work outputs.
- Providing mentorship and on-the-job training.
Additionally, the role involves interaction with various disciplines related to flight testing, including maintenance, configuration management, engineering, flight operations, security, and quality assurance.
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends is required, along with minimal travel as necessary.
Security Clearance Requirement:
This position necessitates a government security clearance; therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of flight test instrumentation and data collection processes.
- Experience in flight test instrumentation, including design, installation, troubleshooting, or operations.
- Proven team leadership experience.
Preferred Skills:
- F-16 FMS and F-22 program experience.
- Knowledge of F-22 and/or F-16 aircraft systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Background in program management with a focus on Earned Value.
