Job Summary

The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator II (RNCE) will play a key role in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating clinical opportunities and strategies for improving delivery of diabetic patient care and staff education. This position will serve as a liaison with multi-disciplinary departments and services concerning diabetes education, developing and providing diabetes education for patients and their families on an inpatient and outpatient basis as directed.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Medical Center is a 178-bed facility located in the South Texas Medical Center, providing high-level care through compassionate hands, experienced physicians, and advanced technology. Our services include Acute Care of the Elderly Unit, cardiology, diabetes care, emergency care, general surgery, kidney transplantation, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation, Senior Behavioral Health Center, urology, and the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate clinical opportunities and strategies for improving delivery of diabetic patient care and staff education.
  • Develop and provide diabetes education for patients and their families on an inpatient and outpatient basis as directed.
  • Serve as a liaison with multi-disciplinary departments and services concerning diabetes education.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Minimum of three years experience managing the care of patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.
