Job Title: Clinical Research Assistant

Join our team at Diabetes & Glandular Disease Clinic, P.A. as a Clinical Research Assistant. In this role, you will provide assistance in the collection and processing of research data, samples, and/or specimens in support of a specified medical research study or group of studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with subject recruitment, administration of informed consent, and subject scheduling.
  • Develop interview schedules, contact potential subjects to introduce and explain study objectives and protocol, and arrange interviews.
  • Collect, process, and compile research data, samples, and/or specimens, following strict protocol and detailed instructions.
  • Assist with routine data analysis and interpretation, utilizing specialized analytical equipment and/or instrumentation or specified statistical data analysis programs and software.
  • Verify and edit research data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Collect health history and vital sign data and enter into electronic patient records accurately and thoroughly.
  • Obtain pertinent labs, x-rays, and other tests as needed by the provider to assist with patient care.
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of research equipment, instrumentation, and/or facilities.
  • Scans exam rooms with scintillation probes to ensure radiation safety.
  • Process laboratory reports, including clarifying lab orders and forwarding results to patients.
  • Maintain timely communication with patients and providers.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Work on Thyroid Biopsies, including setting up supplies, shipping specimens, and appending correspondence.
  • Order supplies for Thyroid biopsies, including alcohol-filled specimen containers, slides, and biohazard bags.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Certification.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or research setting.
  • Ability to collect standard vital signs.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner, friendly tone, and intelligible speech at all times.
  • Possess basic customer service skills and phone etiquette.
  • Possess basic typing and computer skills.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and apply specified field and/or laboratory research procedures and protocols.
  • Computer data entry skills.
  • Skill in the use of computer spreadsheet and/or database applications in the compilation of research data.
  • Ability to analyze, verify, and edit research data.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment.
  • Moderate physical activity, including handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and standing/walking for more than four hours per day.
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
