Job Summary

The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator II (RNCE) will play a key role in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating clinical opportunities and strategies for improving delivery of diabetic patient care and staff education regarding such. This position will act as a liaison with all multi-disciplinary departments and services concerning diabetes education, developing and providing diabetes education for patients and their families on an inpatient and outpatient basis as directed.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate clinical opportunities and strategies for improving delivery of diabetic patient care and staff education regarding such.
  • Act as a liaison with all multi-disciplinary departments and services concerning diabetes education.
  • Develop and provide diabetes education for patients and their families on an inpatient and outpatient basis as directed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients with diabetes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in diabetes care and education.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Minimum of three years clinical RN experience required.
  • Minimum of three years experience managing the care of patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Familiarity with insulin pumps preferred.
  • Current Texas RN license required.
  • Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) preferred. If not CDE at time of hire, successful completion of CDE exam within 2 years of hire/transfer date is required to remain in position.
  • Current BLS certification required – American Heart Association.
