Job Summary:
Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, reviews medical records for completeness and accuracy. Monitors physician chart completion timeliness and performs various clerical duties related to the processing of medical records.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviews record requests received from outside providers, agencies, schools, and attorneys, ensuring proper authorization is obtained in compliance with all state and federal regulations, laws, and guidelines.
Verifies that all necessary information is present in the record, prepares patient charts by ordering the chart, reviewing information for protected health information, and copying or passing it to the in-house copy service.
Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel and the public, adhering to KP Service Standards: Follows LMPs ABCs.
Requirements:
One year of medical records office experience or medical records training or acute hospital setting experience, with knowledge of Medical Terminology, JCAHO, and Title 22 requirements for acute hospital settings.
Database, CRT, PC experience, and formal training in basic medical record science are also required.
Work Environment:
This is a Monday-Sunday varied position with varied hours, varied schedule, and varied locations, with potential to travel to all San Diego area medical centers.
External hires must pass a background check/drug screen, and qualified applicants with arrest and/or conviction records will be considered for employment in a manner consistent with Federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
