Overview

Seasonal Resource Assistants
  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the possibility of occasional weekend and holiday shifts.
  • The positions are temporary and will last for six months.
  • Available time frames for employment include: March-August, May-October, and November-April.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in loading trucks for fish stocking;
  • Participate in the stocking of trout in various lakes and rivers;
  • Engage in spawning, feeding, and transporting fish within the hatchery;
  • Perform additional tasks related to facility and grounds maintenance.

Job Purpose

As a limited duration employee within the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, you will perform various seasonal tasks and responsibilities.

Required Skills and Abilities

Ability to adhere to instructions and guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in fish hatchery operations and maintenance.
Special Requirements

  1. Supervisors of small recreational units may need to perform emergency first aid and obtain a Basic First Aid Certificate.
  2. Some positions may require:
    1. A valid Motor Vehicle Operator license.
    2. A valid pesticide application license.
    3. Relevant college training.
    4. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification for specific roles.
  3. Those providing lifeguard services must hold an American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding Certification, which includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid. An EMT or MRT certification may substitute for CPR and First Aid requirements.
Physical Requirements

1. Candidates must possess sufficient physical strength and stamina to fulfill the job duties.

2. Lifeguard candidates must demonstrate American Red Cross (ARC) waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills.
