Construction Project Engineer

Position Overview:
Flatiron Construction Corp is seeking a skilled Construction Project Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and analyzing cost data essential for overseeing project budgets and forecasts.
Key Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline is mandatory.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction engineering is essential.
- Familiarity with resource management techniques, including cost accounting and basic estimating, is preferred.
- Specialized knowledge in design-build or alternative construction methods is advantageous.
- Ability to set clear expectations for team members regarding their roles and responsibilities.
- Competence in delegating tasks and guiding the engineering team to enhance project productivity.
- Capacity to manage multiple engineering tasks and align them towards a unified objective.
- Advanced understanding of contract specifications and quality assurance standards.
- Skill in identifying budgetary and project costs, along with recommending strategies to alleviate project delays.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are required.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, quantity tracking, and cost coding methods.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling and time management practices is preferred.
- Proven ability to take responsibility and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Candidates must be fully vaccinated or willing to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious exemption by the start date.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering and field teams to review production schedules and ensure all necessary materials, equipment, and resources are available for uninterrupted production.
- Assess all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with quality and contract specifications.
- Provide technical insights for project work plans and scheduling, identifying potential risks that could impact budget or timelines.
- Monitor daily production, schedules, and budget forecasts to accurately assess project performance, documenting activities using company-approved methods.
- Update project schedules weekly for management reporting and participate in weekly meetings to present project status as needed.
- Execute additional tasks as directed by management.
- Prepare and oversee a three-week work plan, alerting project management to significant schedule changes and developing solutions to minimize delays and costs.
- Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs) as required by the project.
- Accurately report project quantities using designated cost coding to ensure precise financial reporting. Manage invoicing with the accounting team regarding materials, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
- Support the engineering team with quality assurance as necessary, reviewing required certificates and permits for work execution.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to maintain a safe and compliant work environment for all personnel. Participate in weekly safety meetings with field teams and project leadership, presenting field analyses as required.
- Assist the estimating team with project schedules, budgets, and cost parameters by providing necessary technical input.
- Contribute to the development of design drawings and provide technical insights as needed.
- Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as necessary.
- Reconcile job closeout checklists with project representatives and field teams at project completion.
