We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse (SANE) to join our team at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to victims of sexual assault.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and treat patients who have experienced sexual assault, providing a safe and supportive environment for them to share their story.
- Conduct thorough medical exams, including collecting and preserving evidence, and providing medical treatment as needed.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, social services, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive response to victims of sexual assault.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, taking into account the unique needs and circumstances of each patient.
- Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- At least one year of specialized experience in a healthcare setting, including experience in assessing and treating patients who have experienced sexual assault.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to traumatic and distressing situations. The successful candidate must be able to maintain a high level of emotional stability and composure, even in challenging circumstances.
