Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Coordinator II-IV to join our team at the Texas Department of Transportation. As a key member of our Transportation Planning and Design department, you will play a critical role in coordinating and performing technical work related to new utility installations and state and/or federally funded utility adjustments and relocations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and Review: Coordinate and review new utility installation permits, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Maintain liaison with and serve in a consultative capacity between the Department, federal agencies, utility companies, other entities, and/or title companies.
  • Expertise and Training: Serve as a Department expert in program responsibilities, train other employees, and ensure electronic documentation and data in TxDOT systems are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Problem-Solving and Analysis: Research problems and coordinate solutions regarding program processes and procedures, prepare correspondence, and make recommendations to improve programs and processes.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education for Utility Coordinator II, Bachelor's Degree in any discipline for Utility Coordinator III-IV.
  • Experience: 1 year in utility, transportation, or construction-related activities for Utility Coordinator II, 2 years of experience in utility, transportation, or construction-related activities for Utility Coordinator III-IV.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license.

  • Utility Coordination: Principles of utility coordination and associated terminology.
  • Public Relations: Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external.
  • Mathematical Fundamentals: Using basic mathematical fundamentals.
  • Technical Data Analysis: Analyzing and organizing business and technical data.
  • Confidentiality: Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports.
Working Conditions
  • Environmental Conditions: Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes.
  • Physical Requirements: Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
