Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Concrete Finisher II to join our team at the City of Beaumont, TX. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for performing manual skilled tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and new construction of concrete streets, sidewalks, ramps, curbs, gutters, catch basins, manholes, surface inlets, curb inlets, junction boxes, and riprap.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment such as air compressors, concrete saws, concrete mixers, chain saws, gas detectors, electric drills, and laser levels.
  • Perform manual labor for extended periods of time and during unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Read and write, follow oral and written instructions, interpret maps and sketches, and operate laser levels.
  • Form, prepare, pour, and finish concrete pavement and drainage structures.
  • Make simple mathematical calculations and make decisions and plan job tasks.
Working Conditions

This position is considered essential during emergency situations. You will work outside in all kinds of weather, including extreme cold, heat, and temperature swings. You will be exposed to extreme and constant noise, work in trenches/ditches and manholes, and be exposed to mechanical and explosive hazards.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing tasks associated with the construction and repair of concrete roadways, concrete drainage structures, and related facilities, including knowledge of concrete finishing.
  • Valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record.
