Job Summary

Genuine Parts Company is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for providing top-notch mechanical service to our customers, ensuring their conveyor systems are running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site belt installation, splicing, and preventative maintenance, as well as emergency repairs.
  • Fabricate lightweight and/or heavyweight belts in our shop.
  • Operate shop equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic millwright tasks, such as torch heating and cutting, and removal and installation of conveyor components.
  • Serve as customer contact for technical and service-related issues.
  • Work under direct supervision and follow detailed guidelines to work on moderately complex repairs and installations.
  • Ensure that processes and environmental conditions comply with local and national regulatory agencies, and our company's safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a technical degree and zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to read measuring and equipment and perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment safely.
  • Ability to operate (be trained to operate) manlifts, forklifts, hand power tools, and shop equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Work effectively with customers, peers, and management to resolve client issues.
  • Willingness and ability to drive company vehicles in alignment with Company policy required within one year of start date.
Physical Demands
  • Push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Lift/carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Lift bulky objects.
  • Neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, reach and lift, ladder climb, and carrying/crawling.
  • Working at heights from manlifts, platforms, and elevated walkways may be required.
  • Requires wearing safety equipment and safety harness.
  • Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
