About This Role

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing, Business Travel & Fleet will oversee the category management within Biogen's Business Travel and Fleet category, driving efficiency, leveraging, and savings through globalization of processes.

This role will aggregate the voice of the internal customer, making recommendations to leadership from a customer standpoint, and identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with stakeholders.

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing will lead subcategories within Biogen's Business Travel and Fleet category to develop and implement sub-category strategies for Air Travel, Fleet Management, Auto, Rail, Travel Management Company, and Corporate Credit Cards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support globalization of processes to drive efficiency, leverage, and savings
  • Work with cross-functional teams using spend data analytics, market research, and cost modeling to identify and leverage high-value opportunities
  • Partner with stakeholders and build relationships to facilitate the realization of business value and savings
  • Continually explore opportunities for improvement in each category
  • Continually monitor the market to understand leading best practices and changes in the industry landscape
Sourcing and Supplier Management
  • Develop and implement sourcing, negotiating, and contracting strategies to achieve category goals
  • Develop strategy for catalogs, guided buying, and sourcing playbooks
  • Ensure efficiency of events through appropriate use of buying channels, catalogs, and RFx events
Stakeholder Management
  • Partner with business stakeholders at appropriate levels for the respective category and facilitate resolution and communication of all other procurement activities
Qualifications

You are knowledgeable in the business travel space related to procurement of services, sourcing events, contracts, and negotiations.

You enjoy collaborating with diverse subject-matter experts to develop process improvements and evolve category strategies to best-in-class to meet critical business requirements.

  • 5 years of experience in a related field. Experience with sourcing for travel and fleet is a plus
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills which provide insights and formulate recommendations using data-driven solutions
  • Ability to effectively collaborate, build relationships, and influence peers and key stakeholders
  • Ability to deal with change and ambiguity effectively
  • Project management skills with ability to plan tasks, assign resources, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change, and resolve conflict
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience. Can present information in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced, and challenging environment
  • Ability to identify process improvements and offer cost savings solutions
Education
  • University degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required
