About the Role:
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Research Scientist Supervisor II (Social/Behavioral) within our Center for Family Health.

Key Responsibilities:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and functionality of information systems that facilitate the execution of local agency interventions, fidelity monitoring, and state program evaluation initiatives.

You will offer expert guidance to departmental programs, fellow researchers, and policy analysts on intricate matters related to program evaluation, employing state-of-the-art and evidence-based methodologies to identify, implement, and assess Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) programs and strategies.

Collaboration and Leadership:
The MCAH Division collaborates with various state, federal, and local agencies in both public and private sectors, maintaining numerous partnerships, contracts, and agreements.

We aim to serve California's diverse populations through a variety of programs and initiatives, providing essential resources, information, and data concerning reproductive health, family planning, pregnancy, and birth outcomes.

Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with experience in developing and implementing statewide data systems and managing information technology contracts.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing scientific and managerial oversight to staff with social/behavioral and epidemiological expertise for the execution of program evaluation studies and ongoing monitoring.
  • Allocating resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of evaluation products and managing the development and execution of evaluation studies.
  • Collaborating with state and local partners to establish and disseminate program performance metrics.
  • Leading the communication of programmatic data through data visualization tools.
  • Ensuring compliance with the mandates of the State Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects in all research and evaluation projects.
  • Overseeing the creation and maintenance of statewide management information systems to support local agency program management and evaluation activities.
  • Providing expert consultation on complex evaluation issues, including evidence-based approaches to program implementation and assessment.
  • Preparing scientific reports and publications to communicate evaluation findings and their implications to public health partners and the scientific community.
