POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary objective of this role is to offer leadership and support to the Quality Department, fostering an environment where team members are equipped with the necessary tools, training, and guidance to produce high-quality products and become proficient Quality Inspectors. The QA Lead aims to enhance profitability and cash flow through process enhancements while ensuring the delivery of superior quality products to clients.

The QA Lead is expected to maintain professionalism and demonstrate responsiveness and respect at all times.

Responsibilities encompass all facets of Quality Assurance, including but not limited to the following:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer requirements and industry standards.
    • Stay informed about changes and updates to customer specifications.
    • Research and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and related procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements, including the completion of necessary documentation.
    • Adhere to AS9102 - Aerospace First Article Inspection standards.
  • Communicate quality-related issues to the Quality Manager(s).
  • Analyze inspection results (First Pass Yield) to identify potential quality trends.
  • Develop and implement a Quality Improvement Plan that effectively identifies root causes of quality issues and aligns with KMM's Quality Department goals.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and customer requirements, addressing compliance issues as necessary.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance scheduling and personnel matters.
    • Develop and maintain the Quality Assurance Training Matrix.
    • Provide assistance in Receiving and Final Inspection as required.
  • Apply KMM's Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies, facilitating internal and external Corrective/Preventative Action activities as needed.
    • Refer to KMM-025 for Corrective-Preventive Action procedures.
  • Conduct audits and verifications as necessary.
  • Engage effectively with Production Team Leads, Operators, Trainers, Manufacturing Engineers, Program Managers, Quality Managers, and Customer Representatives.
  • Take a proactive role in team problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate independence and confidence in decision-making, often without immediate supervisory consultation.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required by job functions.
  • Comply with all KMM safety policies and practices, as well as manufacturer recommendations for equipment operation.
  • Contribute to LEAN manufacturing efforts by taking on leadership roles in the following areas:
    • Teaching, coaching, and mentoring.
    • Facilitating Lean initiatives within their area.
    • Identifying process improvement opportunities and metrics.
    • Collaborating with KMM Lean Liaisons to compile relevant metrics.
    • Keeping Liaisons and Practitioners updated on project statuses.
    • Coordinating Lean training for their area.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Possess the responsibility and authority to execute assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the FOD prevention committee and may assume the role of FOD focal as necessary, with responsibilities outlined in KMM-044 FOD Prevention Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough understanding of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing's Quality Management System and procedures is essential.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with required software for specific tasks is necessary.
  • Strong communication skills are required for interaction with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Certification as an IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist is expected within six months of employment, if applicable.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage stressful situations are critical.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility in working hours and overtime are mandatory.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

  • Use of digital calipers and pin gauges may be required.
  • Daily computer usage and proficiency in related software are necessary for data entry and retrieval.
  • Standard office equipment such as copiers and calculators will be utilized.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move freely throughout the facility to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Daily tasks may involve prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Data entry into computer systems using standard keyboard techniques.
  • Capability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
