POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary objective of this role is to provide leadership and support within the Quality Department, fostering an environment where team members are equipped with the necessary tools, training, and guidance to produce high-quality products and become proficient Quality Inspectors. The Quality Assurance Lead aims to enhance profitability and cash flow through process optimization while ensuring that the highest quality standards are met for customer satisfaction.

The QA Lead is expected to maintain professionalism and demonstrate responsiveness and respect at all times.

Key responsibilities include all aspects of Quality Assurance, which encompass but are not limited to the following:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer requirements and industry standards, including:
    • Staying informed of any changes or updates to customer specifications.
    • Researching and interpreting customer specifications, drawings, and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements, including the completion of necessary documentation as per industry standards.
  • Communicate quality-related issues to the Quality Manager(s) promptly.
  • Analyze inspection results to identify quality trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement a Quality Improvement Plan that addresses root causes of quality issues and aligns with departmental goals.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and customer requirements, addressing any compliance issues as necessary.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance scheduling and personnel matters, including:
    • Developing and maintaining the Quality Assurance Training Matrix.
    • Providing assistance in Receiving and Final Inspection as required.
  • Apply Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies to facilitate internal and external corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct audits and verifications as needed.
  • Foster effective communication with Production Team Leads, Operators, Trainers, Manufacturing Engineers, Program Managers, Quality Managers, and Customer Representatives.
  • Take a proactive role in team problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Exhibit independence and confidence in decision-making, often without immediate supervisory input.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
  • Comply with all safety policies and practices, as well as manufacturer recommendations for equipment operation.
  • Contribute to LEAN manufacturing efforts by:
    • Teaching, coaching, and mentoring team members.
    • Facilitating Lean initiatives within the department.
    • Identifying process improvement opportunities and relevant metrics.
    • Collaborating with Lean Liaisons to compile performance metrics.
    • Keeping Liaisons and Practitioners informed about ongoing projects.
    • Coordinating Lean training for the area.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Assume responsibility and authority for assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention committee and may serve as the FOD focal point as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A thorough understanding of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing's Quality Management System and procedures is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Dynamics, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with software necessary for specific tasks is required.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for interaction with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Acquisition of an IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist certificate may be required within six months of employment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage stressful situations are critical.
  • Good attendance and flexibility to work overtime as needed are expected.

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY

  • Use of digital calipers and pin gauges may be required.
  • Daily computer use and proficiency in data entry and retrieval are necessary.
  • Standard office equipment, such as copiers and calculators, will be utilized.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move freely throughout the facility to perform job duties.
  • Daily tasks may involve extended periods of sitting.
  • Data entry using a standard keyboard is required.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. is necessary.
