POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary objective of this role is to offer direction and assistance to the Quality Department, fostering an environment where team members are equipped with the necessary tools, training, and leadership to produce high-quality products and evolve into proficient Quality Inspectors. The QA Lead aims to enhance profitability and cash flow through process enhancements while ensuring the delivery of superior quality products to clients.

The QA Lead is expected to maintain professionalism and demonstrate responsiveness and respect at all times.

Responsibilities encompass all aspects of Quality Assurance, including but not limited to the following:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer requirements and industry standards.
    • Stay informed about changes and updates to customer specifications.
    • Research and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and relevant procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements, including the completion of necessary documentation.
    • Adhere to AS9102 - Aerospace First Article Inspection Requirements.
  • Communicate quality-related issues to the Quality Manager(s).
  • Analyze inspection results (First Pass Yield) to identify quality trends.
  • Develop and implement a Quality Improvement Plan that identifies root causes of quality issues and aligns with KMM's Quality Department goals.
  • Monitor adherence to company policies, procedures, and customer requirements, addressing compliance issues as necessary.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance scheduling and personnel matters.
    • Develop and maintain the Quality Assurance Training Matrix.
    • Provide assistance in Receiving and Final Inspection as required.
  • Apply KMM's Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies by facilitating internal and external Corrective/Preventative Action activities.
    • Refer to KMM-025 Corrective-Preventive Action guidelines.
  • Conduct audits and verifications as needed.
  • Engage effectively with Production Team Leads, Operators, Trainers, Manufacturing Engineers, Program Managers, Quality Managers, and Customer Representatives.
  • Take a proactive role in team problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate independence and confidence in decision-making, often without immediate supervisory input.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required by job tasks.
  • Comply with all KMM safety policies and practices, as well as manufacturer recommendations for equipment operation.
  • Support LEAN manufacturing initiatives by:
    • Teaching, coaching, and mentoring team members.
    • Facilitating Lean initiatives within their area.
    • Identifying process improvement opportunities and metrics.
    • Collaborating with KMM Lean Liaisons to compile metrics.
    • Keeping Liaisons and Practitioners informed about projects.
    • Coordinating Lean training for their area.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Hold the responsibility and authority to execute assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the FOD prevention committee and may assume the role of FOD focal as necessary, with responsibilities outlined in KMM-044 FOD Prevention Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Thorough understanding of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing's Quality Management System and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with software required for specific tasks.
  • Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to acquire IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist certification within six months of employment, if applicable.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and the ability to manage stressful situations.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work varied hours and overtime as needed.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

  • Utilization of digital calipers and pin gauges may be required.
  • Daily use of a computer and related software for data entry and retrieval.
  • Standard office equipment such as copiers and calculators will be utilized.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to navigate the facility to perform job duties.
  • Daily tasks may involve extended periods of sitting.
  • Data entry using standard keyboard input.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
