Caterpillar Inc. is looking for a Lead Engineering Project Coordinator to enhance our engineering capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Lead Engineering Project Coordinator, you will:

  • Guide the development process while continuously acquiring new business insights and skills.
  • Foster team creativity and collaboration; effectively communicate project requirements and solicit team feedback for refinement.
  • Act as the team representative in discussions with various management levels and clients.
  • Build networks to secure necessary resources and facilitate cooperation, while addressing obstacles to ensure team success.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations for team members.
  • Manage project vision and objectives, make informed decisions, and negotiate effectively.
  • Establish project strategies and resolve issues related to specific technologies, components, products, or processes.
  • Utilize foundational product development skills, including conceptual design, product/process development, data analysis, and requirements management.
  • Leverage expertise in technical project management, product development, and cost-value management.
  • Understand customer needs and product applications while staying abreast of technological advancements.
  • Select and lead teams to address technical challenges or develop critical components and systems.
  • Encourage team input for decision-making and project outcomes.
  • Provide leadership in planning and managing projects, overseeing financial aspects, and creating a supportive work environment.
  • Mentor and develop team members while managing personal growth.
  • Collaborate with individuals from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds.
  • Engage with contractors, employees, suppliers, and customers across various Caterpillar divisions.
  • Make decisions that may impact the project team, division, or broader business unit, influencing product processes and customer perceptions.
  • Ensure timely project completion while balancing time, resources, and quality, and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field, along with eight (8) years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in the same fields with five (5) years of experience is acceptable. Candidates must also possess experience in:

  • J1939 Vehicle datalink communication and Vector CANAPE/CANALYZER tools.
  • Developing real-time models from high-fidelity physics-based plant models.
  • Leading engineers in HIL testing on DSPACE systems, including troubleshooting and test case reviews.
  • Conducting design reviews, test plan reviews, and DFMEA activities.
  • Adhering to software coding standards and version control using GIT.
  • Evaluating engine, transmission, and hydraulics plant model accuracy through engineering analysis.
  • Performing simplifications for real-time performance of electric drive and autonomous vehicle subsystems.
  • Creating closed-loop SIL testing platforms for various machinery.
