Position Overview: Sample Log-In Technician
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
ROLE SUMMARY: The Sample Log-In Technician position is primarily part-time within Bureau Veritas Fuel's laboratories.
The technician will manage the logging of samples using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Responsibilities also include assisting with the shipping and receiving of samples, and potentially learning and conducting basic fuel testing.
Although the role is typically part-time, it is vital to the laboratory's operations, with the potential for full-time employment based on future needs and skill development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uphold ethical standards in all actions.
- Log samples for both inspection and submitted cases.
- Collect all samples designated for retention.
- Ensure all samples received are accurately labeled with current information.
- Input all received samples into the LIMS.
- May be tasked with picking up and delivering samples to various locations as per established procedures.
- Arrive punctually and adhere to all Bureau Veritas safety and procedural guidelines.
- Prepare samples for shipping in accordance with IATA regulations.
- Generate disposal lists for the Retain Department as necessary.
- Maintain a work schedule that may accommodate academic commitments.
- May need to use respiratory protection when handling samples.
- Foster open communication with team members, including supervisors.
- Collaborate effectively as a team player.
- Train in and conduct basic testing as assigned.
- Maintain all required paper and electronic records.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY ROLE: Not applicable
QUALIFICATIONS: To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Enrollment in a STEM-related program is preferred but not mandatory.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, and technical regulations. Capable of writing reports and correspondence effectively.
Must be able to comprehend and utilize Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all received products.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and capable of interpreting graphical data.
REASONING SKILLS: Ability to identify problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and relevant software.
CERTIFICATIONS: A valid driver's license is required.
