Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, working in an inpatient setting to promote the health and well-being of our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain direct and ongoing therapeutic interactions with patients, encouraging progress towards a lesser restrictive environment. You will also participate in individualized and unit-based programming, serving as a liaison to the recovery team or admissions team, and providing verbal and written communication concerning patient progress or lack thereof.

As a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of patients, providing supportive, age-specific care, and assisting with activities of daily living, hygiene, and eating to promote independence and self-care. You will also be responsible for monitoring patients, taking and monitoring vital signs, and performing other assigned tasks within your competency level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Maintain direct and ongoing therapeutic interactions with patients
• Participate in individualized and unit-based programming
• Serve as a liaison to the recovery team or admissions team
• Provide verbal and written communication concerning patient progress or lack thereof
• Assist with activities of daily living, hygiene, and eating to promote independence and self-care
• Monitor patients, take and monitor vital signs, and perform other assigned tasks within your competency level
• Participate in shift reports and recovery team meetings
• Provide guidance to new employees

Requirements:

• Knowledge of patient care techniques and of treatment, therapy, developmental, and patient-centered recovery programs
• Knowledge of basic computer skills
• Knowledge of effective interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to interact with other team members utilizing effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to read, write, and understand English to effectively communicate and carry out verbal and written instructions
• Ability to provide patient care, administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and to conduct TIPS
• Ability to work with others and accept supervision
• Ability to train and provide guidance to others

Working Conditions:

This position may be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on evenings, nights, and/or weekends. The employee has full access to a limited set of records in accordance with HIPAA regulations. The employee may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The employee must understand that duties, location of work, and shift patterns are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital.
