Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Waverly Health Center. As a key member of our behavioral health care team, you will provide high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care to individuals and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients in a clinic setting, conducting physical examinations and comprehensive history taking to identify medical and psychosocial conditions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescription of psychotropic medications, to address cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders.
  • Monitor and evaluate treatment results, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in psychiatric mental health nursing, applying this knowledge to improve patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Licensed to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the Iowa Board of Nursing.
  • Current national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Valid Iowa Registered Nurse License and DEA registration.
  • Ability to function independently, with critical thinking skills and emotional stability in emergency situations.
Work Environment

This position is based in our primary care clinic, where you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. You will have the opportunity to interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our behavioral health care services.
