Position Title: Packaging / Manufacturing Engineer

Role Summary:
We are in search of an engineer with a robust background in crafting new packaging concepts within an industrial manufacturing setting. The primary focus will be to assist various manufacturing sites in executing packaging initiatives from initial concept to full commercialization for both current and upcoming products. Additionally, the role will involve enhancing our awning manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to optimize daily production schedules while improving productivity and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Packaging Engineering Duties:
    • Lead intricate projects or assignments within larger initiatives with minimal oversight.
    • Create, modify, and validate engineering drawings utilizing software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, or SolidWorks.
    • Oversee packaging qualification processes by developing protocols, managing test execution, analyzing results, and compiling qualification reports.
    • Provide technical insights for packaging risk assessments and conduct failure mode/root cause analyses.
    • Coordinate packaging line trials, including planning, execution, and follow-up activities.
    • Collaborate with sourcing and production teams to assess costs and feasibility of proposed packaging solutions.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings or enhancements to both new and existing products.
    • Work with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development, etc.) to deliver optimized packaging solutions.
  • Manufacturing Engineering Duties:
    • Continuously seek and evaluate cost-saving opportunities through lean manufacturing techniques and strategic capital investments.
    • Troubleshoot issues related to manufacturing processes and equipment, as well as packaging challenges.
    • Develop and revise manufacturing process and packaging documentation.
    • Collaborate with diverse teams to facilitate the efficient transition of new products into manufacturing.
    • Explore various options and propose layout modifications for existing and new processes to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
    • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with all levels of staff, contractors, and suppliers.
    • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in packaging or mechanical engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in packaging development within an assembly manufacturing environment.

  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software.
  • Familiarity with AS400 and D365 is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standard manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing setting.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
