Position Summary
As a Manufacturing Systems Specialist, you will play a crucial role in overseeing, managing, and executing all phases of the software development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include the design, development, testing, and maintenance of globally utilized manufacturing testing systems, leveraging commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software platforms. You will also be expected to demonstrate expertise in electromechanical hardware functions and troubleshooting, alongside managing manufacturing data collection, analysis, and SQL database operations. Working within a globally distributed team, you will need to exhibit exceptional collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create top-tier software solutions that streamline product manufacturing, laboratory testing, data collection, storage, and analysis in a fast-paced, customer-centric automotive manufacturing setting.
  • Develop enterprise-level solutions for high-volume data collection, reporting, and management.
  • Cultivate expertise in the electromechanical functions and testing of our products.
  • Lead design, documentation, and code reviews for both hardware and software development and maintenance tasks.
  • Accountable for the creation and documentation of software architecture, requirements, and specifications from a system-wide perspective.
  • Plan and deliver timely software solutions in a hybrid development environment, incorporating both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Adhere to cybersecurity standards, corporate governance, industry standards, and internal best practices to ensure robust designs and implementations.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and interns.
  • Provide operational feasibility feedback to manufacturing teams.
  • Employ modern source code control methodologies to maintain an organized and well-documented codebase.
  • Consult on the design and implementation of hardware solutions that meet testing requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to support both internal and customer-focused requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of .NET programming languages, specifically VB.NET and C#.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly SQL Server.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical architecture related to manufacturing testing systems.
  • Expertise in electromechanical devices and data acquisition systems.
  • Proficient understanding of microcontroller architecture and programming.
  • Familiarity with SAE J1939 protocol.
  • Proficient in source code control systems (e.g., BitBucket, Git, SVN).
  • Knowledgeable in cybersecurity governance, methods, techniques, and tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding production environment, preferably in automotive settings.
  • Experience in LabVIEW VI development and deployment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with contemporary web development languages and tools is advantageous.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of experience in hardware/software design, development, and database management for manufacturing applications.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
Physical and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work extended hours at a computer.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% as required.
Work Environment:
  • Standard office setting.
  • Extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
