Job Title: Community Living Specialist

Job Summary:

Nishna Productions is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Living Specialist to join our team. As a Community Living Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and train individuals to develop skills necessary for independent living, including daily living skills, health and medical needs, and community participation.
  • Assist individuals in accessing community services and resources.
  • Provide advocacy and support to ensure individuals' rights and needs are met.
  • Develop and maintain individualized intervention plans to promote independence and community participation.
  • Provide emergency and safety skills training.
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping.
  • Transport individuals to appointments and activities.
  • Provide a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere.
  • Supervise and monitor individuals' progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in teaching skills or working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Iowa Chauffeur's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical, TB Tine, and drug screenings.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to travel up to 70 miles and enter and exit resident homes.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs and carry necessary supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to provide physical care and assist individuals with daily living tasks.

Security Clearance:

Nishna Productions is committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of individuals' protected health information (PHI). As a Community Living Specialist, you will be required to maintain a Level Two security clearance, which allows access to PHI necessary to complete job duties.
